New Buffalo 5/5

Shakedown trip turned into a big king beat down. Fished from dunes to north of the Cook plant! 70-90 feet of water. Doubles, a triple, and a quad. Insane fishing with just 2 of us on board. Thank god for the Lowrance autopilot!

Michigan City 5-12-18

<t>Yea, kings are a bit tougher for me than the other species, but anytime you have concentrations of fish you can catch them with methods other than trolling. Alewives are easy to catch using a sabiki rig this time of year and everything from perch to kings are eating them. I usually fish them on ...

Northpoint 5/15

<t>Day one at Northpoint was a success. Quite different from the last couple years when the cohos were 10 12 miles offshore at this time. They are right on the beach, say 20 to 30 feet of water. Every fish had one alewife in it. Caught one king and one steelhead to top off the box. All dodgers and ...

Michigan City 5-19-18

<t>Lines in 5:30-8 a.m., two kings (10-11 lbs), one coho, only one other bite. 50' of water somehere (fog) outside Lighthouse, two hits on caramel dolphin 22' down, other king on green dolphin 70' out on diver. <br/>
Charter fleet/Shriner boats mostly went straight to lake trout, sounded best in 80 ...

It’s a start

<t>Nasty weather last week brought some fish in close enough to play with without having to get the boat wet. I think I got out 5 out of the last 7 days and managed to at least hook a fish or two ever trip. Been focussing on first and last light. Moving around and trying different areas. We had some ...

Over West

<t>Plenty of cohos along the "wall" on Sunday and today, to escape the wind I fished Buffington to Four Stacks. If anything, it was better. Absolutely more bait than I've seen in a decade. I set a couple of J-Plugs down in and around the bait (20 and deeper) got several bites all cohos. I'll take it ...

Over West

<t>I was out Sunday and Monday as well. Did ok on the inland wall Sunday AM but found I was going to slow. Went to Gary Sunday evening and did pretty well but the catch ratio was about 2:1 - some coming off and some snapping the fly lines. Everything Sunday was on my dipsys out 20 with 0 Dodger and ...

Rainy Day

<t>We actually had upwards of 20 minutes this morning with no rain or drizzle. Went out of Hammond, enjoyed the Cal Harbor breakwall and the constant attention the cohos sheltering there gave my lures. Lots of fish, lots of action, lots of bait, now, just lots of damp clothes. 50/50 D/F and ...

EC 3/21 AM

<t>Got the invite from a friend this morning and launched before daybreak. We had a pretty consistent start with nearly all of our fish coming before 8 am but it pretty much shut off after that. 2 nice lakers came on a 100 copper w/ flounder pounder and the coho had no specific taste today biting on ...

Gary light question

Fish are homing back to where they are stocked right now, so fishing those areas is best.

East Chicago should have a few fish returning. 1 and 2 year olds I believe. They're stocked in the marina, so that is where they home back to.
