MC 7/1 pm
<t>Hit the water around 6pm CT. Headed out straight past the buoy to around 75’. Turned and went with the wind that was NNW to set up. Most fish and bait where in the 65-75’ range. I wasn’t sure what to expect after the big blow on Sunday. We ended with a 12lb king and 2 coho. King and 1 coho came ...

Portage/NB 7/20
<t>Father/Son outing and after a couple of very slow days west this month went east to NB out of Portage. Its a 25 mile run but turned out to great decision. Left the mouth at 5:45 and first King in the box at 6:45. For us, fishing was best with the waves, 2.3Mph at the ball, 95' - 90' feet of water ...

NB 7/20 am
<t>Another week another boat record for us. Fished 6am to 12:30pm. Same general area NW out of the harbor. Caught fish early in 75-85 fow. Then later in 85-90 fow. 45’-65’ down was the strike zone for us. Mostly spoons with UV gator being the best. But f/f took fish too. Ended up with 7 really good ...

<t>Left Portage at 530am with a crew of my dad and son and ran out east to 120fow. Ran a 10 color, 7 color with a drop weight, 300 and 400 coppers, a pair of wire divers, an swr on one rigger and 2 rods on the other rigger. 5 rods out and the first king hits the deck at 21lbs eating the swr with a ...

St.Joe 9/19pm
<t>Tried a quick trip last night. Setup in 80ft at 6pm and trolled SSW to 105. Cold water down about 65 ft. I kept catching really small salmon - like 4 or 5 of them same size as a magnum spoon. They were not surviving being caught so I just pulled lines earlier than expected. <br/>

Gloucester Tuna
Met my brother and a buddy at Gloucester last Monday to fish on Tuesday. Giant season closed so catch tag and release. Lots of fun, exciting, and extremely humbling. Felt like cranking on boat trailer winch with back of boat tied to dock.

Watch for pinks
<t>Back in 2022, I was surprised when the pink salmon record for Illinois fell repeatedly in mid-summer. After the first report I thought the catch was a rare incident. The next report a week or so later gave me pause. I was no longer sceptical when I went on a road trip with my brother to ...
