8-10 lb kings
<t>There was a decent alewife spawn in 2021, and alewife spawn strength is almost always strongly correlated with survival of kings from that same yearclass.<br/>
<br/>
So the likely explanation for 8-10 pound kings right now is that there was good survival of the 2021 chinook yearclass, which would ...

Fall Kings
<t>It's not usually an ooze-in where the kings will be in 120 feet one day, then 100 a few days later, then 80, 70, 60 etc. Don't know where the fish start at, but when they get horny, they speed into the nearshore waters quickly... as in overnight... sometimes. Perch spawn in full swing
<t>DNR did spring perch assessment in Michigan City today. Best catch in that survey in at least a decade. Maybe caught as many fish as the last 10 years combined, even. Almost all males, 7-9 inches. Likely the 2015 yearclass<br/>

New Buffalo
Fished NB this morning. Only managed 8. One was a 13.5" pig! Was great being out in July and not roasting. Hopefully next time we'll find a few more willing fish. All fish caught between 15 and 25 fow.

Put in the water yesterday.
IMO the single best resource for boaters on the south end outside of wave forecasts, and arguably even better depending on what you are looking for
