Thinking of making my first trip out tomorrow on the Big Lake this year. The wave reports are calling for 1-3's after midnight. Anyone have any reports on current wave conditions or plans to do the same? If so, what port are you heading out of? Thinking of possibly heading out of Hammond for the first time and heading towards the ship canal. Thanks in advance. Nick

From what I see, its probably doable. Going out of Hammond might be best as west looks better based on wind forecast. Gonna be chilly willy! Might have skim ice in the harbors with the temps in the teens overnight.

Thanks. Kind of what I was thinking with the winds. I got screwed with the weather last weekend and being out of town the previous. Just itching to get out.

If I didnt have a commitment tomorrow night then I think I would potentially give it a try in the afternoon. Barometer is sky high so it will be interesting to see if that has any affect whatsoever. Let us know how you do!

We will be out in the morning but we have not decided if we are going out of portage or Hammond yet.

Thanks jeff. I am just hoping ice does not become a factor on the floor of the boat. I am really hoping everyone has the common decency to drip there trailer on the way out. But I will have my salt and sand just in case

Looks like an afternoon trip is in the cards for me. Hope the wind, waves and weather all cooperate.

I stopped by the lake on my way to BassPro to check it out. This was around 2pm. Didn't look THAT bad.
