Help me out with leadcore

+1 for double uni knot. All I’ve ever used and no failures. Just make sure you cleanly strip back the LC. If you puncture the sheath while stripping it back, start over.

as a general rule I wouldnt. If you need to get deeper just add them to your backing.

I just had to do a Willis knot for my lead core last night (had a tangle on my 10 color and had to cut off leader and about 5' of lead). I was pushing 20# fluoro through and it was no issue at all. I broke off about 5" of lead and slid it out of the sheath and made the knot like they show initially. I then start to feed the fluoro into the sheath until I get to where it needs to go through the bends of the knot. What I do (and not sure if it is standard practice or not) is that I slowly back the sheathing and the fluoro out until the knot actual moves back enough where the sheathing is totally straight and I can slide the fluoro in until it hits the lead. I then work the knot back forward until it is back on the sheathing and can clinch it down. I have never been able to work the fluorocarbon through the knot in the sheath without it poking through, so I figured out how to work the knot around so I could go straight in. Unfortunately I don't have a video of how I do it and in writing it sounds complicated but it took me like a minute to tie it up and its a solid connection.

If you cut the Fluorocarbon with a sharp pair of scissors it is easier to thread into the sheath. Personally if I were only running two boards, I would spool up 2 - 10 color leads and only run what I need behind the board. I've done this for years and the releases on the Church Walleye boards have never damaged the lead core.
