Black fly remidies?
I have been told that vinegar and water in a spray bottle works if you spray down the boat with it. I try and keep the boat as clean as possible no fish slime or blood as well. Do any of you guys have any solutions on keeping the flies away?

Trolling at 20 MPH seems to work. However I dont ever catch any fish that way
All seriousness aside, I have tried a million things, and nothing seems to really work that I have found.

Like Jeff said, there's not really a silver bullet to keeping them away.... the next best thing is to not get bit by them. I wear socks that cover my ankles, and pants. Breathable stuff so I don't get heatstroke
It's even better if your fishing partners have shorts and sandals on
Just like the old joke about not having outrun the bear, just be faster than your buddy

Is this safe to use around children? I don’t know if I could spray my boat down with this since I take my little one out all the time and she naps on the floor and plays with her toys there.

Don't spray down the boat... it's permethrin. You would spray the clothing. Permethrin is an insecticide, not a repellent like DEET.
I would also encourage folks to really limit use of permethrin (the active ingredient in many of these sprays) around water. Permethrin is super toxic to aquatic life. It's also really bad for cats if you have one
