Kicker motor mount question.

Hi all, I'm new to the group. I have a 1967 Starcraft Chieftain I plan to take out on lake Michigan. I would like to mount my 8hp Merc 8 four stroke for a kicker. Any risk to the transom of a boat this old. And whats your opinion for the best motor mount.

panther off sdhore bracket 16" drop is pretty fool proof cheat it as close to the keel to help steering but not close enought to get into the main motor . we usally have to add some extra plywod inside the boat to occomodate the weight and leverage   kicker can save you a ton of money on gas let alone the cost of a tow if main motor breaks down
