Started around 730 and put out lines just past the last bridge in the ditch. Had a drive-by just before the bigger discharge but kept going out to the lake. Stuck around the ditch area for a couple of passes and took a laker in 10fow and a coho in front of the mouth, nothing else.
Took off at 1040 to the Port of Indiana and I wished I would have started there. In an hour I lost 5-6 fish (most likely cohos) caught 2 more coho along with a shaker. Lots of big marks near the bottom but nothing hit my rigger. Wrapped up at noon.
Best baits were a storm thin fin smaller than a standard brads thin fish flatlined and a jointed Rapala on a 2 color. The laker came on a teeny Michigan stinger scorpion spoon. Temps on the main lake was 33, ditch and the port 39-40.
Sorry no pictures, I'm starting to think my bloody cooler pictures are triggering brother nature:lol: :silly:

Way to go Alvin.
Pretty cool that this end is open for fishing at this time of year.

I'd say about the size we're used to catching in March, 15"-16".

Nice Alvin. Did you use the RT’s you got from me? I know Ed and Bro Nature are fans of them in the early season.

Sure did Don, I never got to use them last year but they'll get a workout this year!

For all the shore bound guys.....Tried Michigan City last couple of weeks by the pier, casted everything and not a hit. Soaked a night crawler (bobber) also and nothing. Tried the Port Thursday for about 45 minutes same presentation and nothing. Was throwing a Flicker shad for maybe a stray walleye or early season pike at the port. Also casted a deep diving Thunderstick (an old Lake Erie walleye bait used when my Lund was on the water). Sampo swivel came undone and it is floating in the Port somewhere(black & gold color). KK
