The past two years I have traveled to Manistee to fish the kings. One of the best experiences I’ve had is fishing the Manistee River early for kings. Fished last Friday and we did well.
It got me thinking do we have much on the south end for this same type of run? Obviously the St Joe has a run of steel head etc but was curious if there’s anywhere else I’m not aware of? Preferably fishing from a boat even if skinny water.

Local River Runs
We don't have anything that compares to the numbers or the type of river like the Manistee, at least in terms of salmon. The St. Joe would be most comparable, and gets a world-class steelhead run.
You can still catch kings and coho doing harbor patrol in Michigan City or Burns Harbor, and fish the lower portions of the creeks, but they are pretty short and you can't get very far upstream with a boat before it gets too shallow and filled with logjams
