Fishing 2/5/23

Post by Allseasonangler »

Launched at portage around 5:15am to get a couple hours of fishing in today. Hit up the warm water discharges in the ditch but no hits. Headed to Gary light and it was lights out from 6:20 until about 8am. No other boats until a little after 8am. I caught an easy limit, plus a small mouth and nice size brown(which was released). It was an awesome day out on the water. Tight lines

Nice! Thanks for posting the report. I figured it would start early this year with the weather we've been having.

I was up at Portage Marina today. Lots of trailers parked there in the morning and still there early afternoon. Talked to one fellow just loading up. He'd caught several cohos and a few lake trout. I got the idea he stayed close to the ditch and he said there was a lot of floating ice close to the mouth. Be careful out there! Chunks of ice can be boat and people killers. He said the water is only 32 degrees.
