I visited the Indiana Bodine Hatchery today. Super cool visit. Watched 700 adult Skamania swimming around. I'll post some pictures and a better report later tonight.

Dave Meunick manger of Bodine Hatchery was kind enough to share some of his time with my wife and I for a tour. What a cool operation. Some what larger then Mixsawbah and set up a little differently.

For this hatchery the Bodine staff collects yearly 700 Skamania Steelhead, 450 females and 250 males. these fish are kept over winter until they are ripe for egg collection. These adults will not feed during this period. The eggs from these Indiana fish will help provide Skamania for the other states stocking programs. There are some winter run fish and Coho that are also produced here. Really something to see all those big fish in one area. The outdoor ponds have netting over them for predator protection. Mink and Racoons seem to be the biggest culprits. This is the group that has put Indiana #1 in the lake wide Skamania program. I want to thank Dave and his asst..manager Alexander Ingersoll for all their time they gave me today. If you get a chance try to make the trip. Early February would be good time to see this place in full operation.

Good stuff Ed. Very interesting process. That would make a great YouTube video of the place.
