2005 merc about left me stranded
I’ve got 2005 Mercury 60hp 2 stroke..was trolling today for a couple Hours and when we finished up and headed back to the launch it fell on its face was almost full throttle and it stuttered a few times and just fell on its face and stalled..took forever to fire it back up and it ran terribly and stalled again. Sounded like it wasn’t firing on all cylinders. Pulled plugs on the lake and swapped them out with new ones as I thought maybe I fouled them up trolling…but that didnt effect it and I had to use the trolling motor to get back. It will Not even run in neutral
So far I checked compression..110psi in all 3 cylinders.
Checked for spark and I’m getting nice blue spark to all 3 cylinders..
Drained some fuel and it looks good, no water in it that I can see..
Now this thing ran great on the way out to the spot we fished..I always use ethanol free fuel in it..I can’t imagine all 3 carbs got gummed up suddenly..
Even tho I have spark could the ignition still be bad? Spark timing off?
I’m lost with it
I attached a photo of the serial number in case anyone needs it to help with this issue. Thanks in advance

First thing I'd do is run it off a seperate tank at home on the muffs to rule out fuel delivery problem on the boat.

Just had it out last month on a few different occasions. It never sits much longer than 30 days

Maybe a fuel filter or obstruction. Could be a fuel pump issue too. That is what we suspect with Alvins booat.

Do you have an onboard tank ? When your boat stalled out , was your fuel pump bulb collapsed ? ( tank Vent ) . I had a similar prob. and it took a bit to figure out . My pick up tube in the tank was clogged at the screen on the end . ( Old gas line that got deteriorated by Ethanol Fuels ) I was able to blow that out and clean the tank . Then there was a fuel pump prob. ( Fuel pump rebuild kit , $40.00 ) I was scared to do it , but after several You Tube Videos . I did it , and it was REMARKABLY Easier than I thought . There are rubber diaphrams in there and 1 had a small tear in it .

After removing the fuel line off the pump and putting on a temporary line into a jar I have came to the conclusion the pump is bad..after priming the system and getting some fuel into the jar I touched off the key and I got nothing. Not even a trickle

Just to add to my last comment I got the pump off the engine and I took it apart to inspect for same and im
not visually not seeing anything broken. The diagram is a bit stiff and seems to have stretched some could that cause it to not pull fuel?

I ordered a new pump. It was actually cheaper to
do than the rebuild kit..new pump will
be here tomorrow
next question
..how do I go about testing for pulse to make sure the pump is getting enough vacuum? Thanks
