Before I give the report... and I'm sure this has been covered already... but....
Why am I paying 5$ more to launch at the ditch? Did something get improved?? need to be improved??? did I drive by the new fish cleaning station and not see it???? I don't know but as far as I can see there's no reason that I have to pay more just to drop my boat. I'm pretty sure through the course of the spring and summer they make enough to cover and make some $. Michigan City is closer for me and it is just a short troll West to be in the same spot. That's probably the last time I'm going to Portage.
Ok, sorry bout that onward with the fishing....We did best in 46-47 FOW going 2.3-2.6 SOG and 7 came on flatlines with 2 off the D/F at 15 back and 15 down, and 1 off the slider on the other rigger set at 37 down.
These are the lures that did the damage

one more thing there used to be a way to preview before you publish but I can't seem to find it... is it still there? what am I missing?

It's been 10 for as long as I've been going there and I've been going there for a long time. Now it's 15 which it's not so much the money it's the principle of it, there's nothing that's changed except their attitude. I shouldn't have to pay $5 more just to put my boat in.

It is 15 dollars to launch at trail creek marina in MC. Not sure about Washington park. It went up last year.

You can buy a non resident Michigan rec pass that gives you access to ramps thru out the state, including 2 in St Joe and a location in almost every port on the eastern shore of the lake for $40 - quicker access to deeper water too. I usually buy an annual pass at New Buffalo for $100 for the early season, and a rec pass that gets me everywhere else including state parks and inland lakes too - just a suggestion.
Indiana doesn't seem interested in making Lake Michigan access a priority anymore and I blame the stupid floating casino laws - I still remember waiting in line to launch at Sprague and Washington Park.....

While I dont know directly, I am guessing they went from $10 to $15 because they are going to put in the fish cleaning station.  Remeber this is government!

yeah, it just bothers me that the only reason that they raise the fee or have a high rate to drop a boat is because they can...... The launches on Catawba (Erie) are free and Mizurak actually put in a fish cleaning station last year. I don't mind paying a little to be able to get to the fish easier but when the powers that be decide to fleece the people that keep them in business it's time for a tea party. Just my opinion.
