Headed out this morning around 5:30 out of Pastrick with Big Treble, 4-Shore and another buddy hoping for some silver fish in the box....what a day it was. Started out when 4-Shore lost his glasses leaving the marina. Knew it was destined to be a good day. Headed out northeast of the wreck in 60-70 FOW and trolled an almost due north heading. Was running a mixed bag of spoons and F/F comboes. First thing to go was a Dirty recommended Moonshine spoon set at 45' down on the SWR. Had the other rigger fire moments later on a slider Lemon Ice SS. Picked up a smattering of coho and kings until we lost a planer board. Marked the GPS and started making a turn hoping for an at sea rescue. Amidst all the confusion and losing a little focus, somehow we ended up with port side lines on the starboard and vice versa. Not sure how we avoided major tangles and re-ties on 12 lines, but we did. Maybe the fish gods were smiling on us. Reset and started heading south thru the same waters. Ended up 7 for 9-10 or so. Most fish seemed to come on downriggers and a handful on the LC 5 & 7 colors. And we boated 3 kings to finally end the king drought on my boat. Not one lure was super "hot" but dark colored spoons seemed to rule the day. Another great day on the water!

Thank you sir. Certainly was a great day. Forgot to mention there was a young man from the Indiana DNR at the launch when we came in. Asked about fish we caught and what baits we were using. And then asked what fish we'd like to see stocked in IN waters...Browns, Coho or Steelhead. No mention of more kings.

Done and done Jeff. I've been waiting over a year to add to that poll. 2 wild and 1 stocked fish.

I asked that kid about why kings aren't on the list. He said cuz they already know everyone wants kings.....then I said he needs to add the question, would you like to see a reduction in laker stocking.....he said its in the works.

Just got a report from a good friend who was taking his family out today from E.C. Birddogs and I gave him the rundown on what worked for us yesterday hoping to give his wife and daughter a fun fishing experience.

He went out early to the same coordinance, ran the depths we did, similar lures, and everything inbetween. He managed one chinook in the box and lost a screamer on a 7-color due to a break in the 20#FC leader. He also mentioned marking a few bait balls on the bottom of ~60 FOW that seemed to be a prophesy of some rod action.

Classic case of 'should have been there yesterday...'
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
