Huron Lake Erie 12/4
Well just got back from the last trip of the season to Huron Ohio lake Erie. Sunday the entire parking lot was loaded with trucks and boat trailers. The walleye were out a lot further this year then last year. We finally found them and switched up alot of cranks until we got the ones that the fish wanted. One of the studs was a custom Jay Hunter Rapala MR-11 black head with chart. body and pink belly. Reef Runners Black head wonderbread, and an off pink chrome. Seemed like fish were concentrated in a few areas but light hitting. 110 to 140 out with no weight. Speed was critical, with 1.7 to 1.9 or you got no hits going slower or faster. The picture of the graph is what we were seeing. Hard to believe tht you could go thru fish like that and not get a hit sometimes. Donna said it felt alot colder this year as it was really heavy moist air that seemed to go thru down to the bones.
The game wardens were working hard both on shore and out on the lake. The fellas on the lake seemed more interested catching guys that had a few to many rods in the water. Two rods per person out there. The officers on shore did catch one boat over their limit.
On Sunday we took 12 so we limited out, and monday we only got a couple. Pretty ruff fishing with alot of wind. If you can't hold yourself in the troll speed needed you didn't take many fish.

Nice box of fish. You don't look real happy about it though. Was it real tough out there? That ought to be some great fish dinners. I wish walleye were a commonly caught fish at the south end of the state.

Don,
it was a hard trip this time. Wind burned and cold. We even had a little buddy heater going in the boat this time around.
We wanted to do one night of night fishing but the wind never really let down enough to do it safely. :S
Kingme thanks, there will be some good meals this winter with those walleye.

Wow, great cooler of fish. Do shore fishermen ever have access to the fishery there? What a shame if they don't.
