Putting this under Perch, although did not fish for perch but intended to Mon. afternoon.
Gusty winds changed plans from getting minnows to trolling with a couple slide divers and flat lines while hoping a Skamania or two were hanging around the Trail Creek mud line.
We did mark perch in 50' directly off breakwall and several bunches in 36' to 42' off Blue Chip to the east. At least certainly looked like the exact same perch mounds we try to stay on top of during summer. May try to catch them this weekend if still around.
We did catch a small chinook in 55' and a 5 lb. brown along the mud line in 30'. No steelies, but there was cottonwood seeds collecting on lines, which use to be certain sign a few would be around. Nothing that resembled alewife schools, either.

Thanks for the info, sounds like the Ales are in the IL/WI area this spring. I'm ready to start getting into my early summer patterns too. Absolutely sucks not having a bait shop in West Lake County, this morning would. Have been perfect to poke around out of Hammond looking for perch.

That place is the insult on top of the injury... flaky hours, terrible bait, ridiculous prices, and worst of all they count the minnows.

Haven't fished for perch in years. I'm hoping they come back strong this year. It would be nice to target them again.

Friend fished a couple hours in the middle of the day (Sat. 5/27) without any perch bites, although he was on top of schools at times.
