Thanks to Tmik I had a little success today. This was my wife’s first time out with me on the big lake. We are from Indiana and she never makes the drive with me. We started out in 65’ due West of the river heading northwest. I had one 300 copper set and was getting my riggers ready when we got our first hit. She immediately reeled in her first king and thought the action would be that good all day. With in 30 minutes of having lines set we had one king and two coho in the box. Those fish were caught between 65-80. Two were on 300 copper with a coyote spoon, and one was on a rigger 40’ down with a bloody nose spoon. We motored out to 125 feet and immediately got a hit on copper with some green spotted spoon. We ended the day about noon by checking out the houses on the beach. The water was smooth as silk but the flies were terrible. Over all it was a great day, to bad the cleaning station was closed at the city ramp.

Nice job! Got a chunky little steelhead in there too.

Was there any indication why the cleaning station was closed? Hope it's open by the weekend

It’s funny you say that. I thought I had one too but when I filleted it the meat was just as pink as the salmon. Isn’t the rainbow meat white? The closing station was closed because if septic issues.

Steelhead meat can vary just as much as salmon sometimes. It can be white, particularly in adult fish that are gearing up for the spawn. That colored up skin in spawning stage fish has been drawing the pigments from the flesh, hence the flesh turns whiter

This time of year, most of the chrome steelhead you catch will have pink to orange flesh. Especially the smaller steelhead that have been eating a lot of bugs

Good job and thanks for the report. I hope to head out of St Joe in the AM and will be looking around where you got your fish. due to the looming weather report I don't want to venture too deep and end up in a lighting storm.
