As soon as I know they have good ice I wont be far behind it jeff. its a easy trip , 4 hours down the toll road and your there. really no better way to spend a winter weekend than out there if you ask me. Poor boy, We stay at Americas best value in Port Clinton when we go. There are some nicer hotels in town but we like that one cause its cheap, like the budget!! when your in town your right in the middle of the two places to fish out of which are Camp perry or Catawba state park. Bait shop is right next to the hotel. There real good about letting you no which spot you should head out of and how far if you ask them in there. Your usually fishing at least a few miles off shore so you want to have a four wheeler or snowmobile or side by side etc. to get you out there and haul all your gear. hope this is helpful to you guys if anyone decides to head out there this winter.

Willbill, I also made it out to Erie last year for some monster walleye through the ice. My buddies and I had a blast. It was our first trip out there on hard water and definitely was a bit intimidating at first. Glad we went and can't wait to get out there again this year. Loaded up 2 quads and all our gear in an enclosed trailer. No major issues traveling on the ice but I could see where a sled would be a definite plus. A few slushy spots in the hard pack snow that we sunk into but nothing we couldn't easily wiggle out of. Maybe we'll have to have a SouthEnd meeting out on the Erie ice this year!

This is the one I got mounted. 31.5" and just over 11#. Always said my first walleye over 10# was going on the wall.
