I am a new member to the south end, my tag is Webster 3. My family and I moved to Valparaiso 2 years ago. i have spent most of our time on the western basin of Lake Erie (oak harbor- west sister island) fishing for walleye and perch. My two boys and I fish on the big lake almost exclusively . . We haven't caught many fish yet but that Bright blue water and the Chicago skyline keeps up coming back! I fish out of an 18' Starcraft . Looking forward to this forum !

Great to have you aboard! My first boat was a 18 foot center console starcraft. They make great fishing platforms.

Welcome to the site Webster. Is oak island anywhere near port Clinton?? That's where we always stay when we go over to Erie to fish the hard water. Those Lake Erie bubble eyes are a blast! Not as much fun as salmon tho! Lol Should be able to find a lot of useful info here to help put you guys on more fish. Do you have a radio on your boat?? If so monitor channel 68 when your out on the water. Tight lines !!

Thanks Willbill ! yes we were about 20 minuets west from Port Clinton. Early spring to mid June we would fish Oak Harbor - summer we would fish going out of Catawba island to deeper water fishing around middle bass island put in bay etc.. We have yet to hook onto any big fish to make a fair evaluation but I'm guessing my 9 year old will shat when he finally does lol i do have a radio I will tune in ! I appreciate the welcome and help.

I love the old Starcrafts, I just bought a 21' cc that will be my winter project, on your 18' was the gas tank under the console or in the back? I'm curious because I'm thinking about moving mine under the console to help offset the rear lean the have, trying disperse the weight a little more evenly...
