Went out of Portage yesterday 6am (7-4-23) looking for the yellow fins. Checked from mouth of ditch west ward.
Covered a lot of water hitting my favorite previous caught locations, NOTHING.
What a gorgeous lake to try and find them.
Did not go east towards donut. May this weekend.
Anyone find at least a few around. Darn north winds.

Ended up smallmouth fishing, Didn't do to bad. Nothing large but caught. Drop shot - green pumpkin half shells. Love these half shells.

Be safe out there.

I was at New Buffalo yesterday 7/5 and gave it a shot with the grandkids - short trip due to thunderstorms but no fish for us either. I talked to three boats at the ramp - 1 fish for one, none for one and one guy caught ten in 32 ft. of water.

Thanks for the info. Crazy this summer. No perch yet. Going to try Michigan City area Saturday morning.
They have to be staging somewhere to rush in, LOL.

I did what you did on 4th but went east, finally marked a few, very few, hugging bottom, at black ditch, had family with and by the time we got there was already really hot and boat traffic was making things difficult, caught 3 keepers at 35ft in about 20 minutes of fishing before I caved into requests for tubing

Went west out of MC and fought the rain all morning. Marked a few fish but nothing for the livewell. Fingers crossed things start happening soon.
