Last week I was in town and fished a few days. I began using jigs and spinners which yielded 3 coho from Deep River. With spawn in hand the next day I hit a lower section of the Cal and caught 2 cats on the spawn, then threw the old trusty gold hot n tot which landed a nice smallmouth bass. I decided to try my next favorite a fire tiger rapala and hit a 15 lb female king full of skein. Cured the spawn and took a break. Next outing hit a tiny jack coho, not what I was looking for; but I'll take it. Later in the week hit the Cal I did the bobber king spawn thing and got a 31 inch steel. One last trip after that to the same area landed another steel and a real nice 19 lb king on spawn.

Nice trip you had Jay. Looks like you got all you could ask for; some good eaters, some good fighters, and some great bait. You'll be set up for winter steelies or spring coho now if you were able to stash those eggs somewhere.

Thanks, I did cure the eggs. I'm back in Florida already, but believe me if I wasn't I'd still be drifting eggs into November or Dec. I cured them in hopes that they will last that way in the freezer till next year when I come back. I am hoping to come back in June for Steel and then the same exact time for the fall fish. I know the steel in June love shrimp and if anything at least I have something to start with eggs wise next fall. With how steel swallow the spawn maybe with year old they only take it have as deep lol. But yes, it was a great trip. All I could have asked for except a big male king, but really who's complaining.
