Evening Nick,
Jack Hunter is an Indiana boy. Lives down in Muncie.
He will work with old lures as long as they aren't beat up. Thats what is nice to have someone like this. Got a hot color that isn't made anymore? Send him good pictures or better yet send him a bait to work from and he can duplicate it.
Have an idea for a pattern you want as yours, that nobody else has, give him an idea of what you want and he can do it.
As far as how the paint work holds up. You will not find anyone better. His clear coat is like armor plate, the fish can not work thru it to get to the paint work. I have some painted thinfins that have taken alot of fish over the years, and they still look like brand new. Most company sold baits do not clear coat anymore and thats why they quickly lose their paint.
Turn around is usually quick depends on how busy he is. Usually 3-6 weeks. Can take alittle longer at times. I used to have another painter do work for me but got tired of waiting a year to get my baits back, and the work wasn't as good as Hunters. He does work that he sells on Ebay auction about this time of year for himself. Thats his big money maker so I try to work around that with him. His specialty is for the bass guys, but he can paint anything
.
He also has been doing glow painted j-13's for me. Same paint as moonshine has been using. So as you can see its wide open as to what he can do.
How good is he? The other evening he had his auctions on ebay. His crawfish pattern on pre rapala wiggle warts is like nobody elses. Last year his best sale on auction was a wiggle wart that went for $84.00, the other night he beat that sale with a wiggle wart that went for $127.50.
