TOPIC:

Got out this afternoon about 2 pm with the intention of running to Gary Light. Talked with a few boats coming in and decided to stay in close. Trolled right outside the mouth making big circles. Ended up catching our 4 man limit in just about 3 hours. Red ThinFish, Orange J-11's and a selection of Bay Rat lures did the trick running 30-35 feet back. Shakedown trip was mostly a success with the exception of a small oil leak I developed on the main motor. Planer mast and big boards worked well paired with some Amish Outfitter line releases. All in all a great start to the season. Time to fire up the grill and make some cedar plank salmon!

Don't want to hijack your thread, but my dad and I did the same thing with very similar baits. We got some information from other boaters when launching and stayed right outside the mouth of the ditch.

I think you passed us on your way out (black boat with an arch?) and we commented about your nice setup!

We ended up 9 for 14, but had to get off the water before we got our 10th.

Yep. Certainly saw you out there. Glad you guys did well also. Thankful for the reports from the incoming boaters that saved us some time and a chilly, choppy ride.
