I am thinking of getting out on Friday to try to jig up some lakers. Has anyone been out lately?

Right before Thanksgiving, I got a Laker right outside Burns Ditch in about 20 fow trolling crank bait as soon as I got lines out; however, I was more interested in perch and pulled in the trolling lines to search for perch. Over this last week I got out 3 times trolling the same area and same lures with no Lakers, but coho action was sweet between 30 and 50 fow.

I’ve only been out of cal harbor mainly to target perch. But I have also had good luck jigging the lakers along the rock walls as well. After a limit of perch it’s a nice treat to catch a couple bigger fish for fun.
Fish on!

you've been doing well on coho in front of the ditch? Within a mile of shore or going out further? I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thanks

The coho are there and many are doing rather well. I know a few have had a 40+ day with mixed boxes of Coho, lakers, steelies, and a occasional brown. Many of those coho are shorts, so treat them good when you return them back. They will appreciate your care when they are bigger come spring.

A friend anchored in 15 feet at the mouth at ditch and caught about 15 to 20 coho using jig and minnows. He was fishing for perch. No perch. Bruce

many, many coho are being caught but as stated earlier, a lot of those fish are short.

I also made it out to check on the coho action. Lots of fish. Lots of small fish. I don't think I'll be going back out for a while due to the size and the fact that even handled as nice as possible they may not make it.

I will say by judging the stomach contents of a few of the fish it won't be long til they are all of size. Most had a couple ales in them.

Good luck if you go and bring a tape measure. ;)
