Launched Portage this morning 530am. Trolled around east to Port of Indiana and back west to mouth of ditch.
Several boast out trolling same area. Didn't see or hear of any catches.
Several good marks but no bites. Seems most marks around number 4.
Did have a first, large small mouth boated from a dipsy with a moonshine spoon.
Returned to launched around 930am.
Getting close, fingers crossed.
Come on fall kings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be safe out there.

Not that water temps are as important this time of year as in the mid-summer, but what were the water temperatures?

Low 70s top to bottom, that's part of the reason for no action im sure.

Thanks for the report! Congratulations! I'm waiting and watching for people to start catching kings in less than 100 ft of water. Hopefully I'll be feeling better by then

Launched EC this morning (8-22-23) around 630am. Trolled from exit of marina to hole in the wall. Over to light house and back to marina several time.
Graph showed many fish around marina exit/entrance til curve. Nothing biting my dodger with green/silver fly, dipsy with silver j-plug or several different spoons.
Lake little ruff with NE winds bouncing off steel wall.
Surface water temp - 72.4 degrees.
Be back out few days. After heat wave, lol.

Be safe

It's not usually an ooze-in where the kings will be in 120 feet one day, then 100 a few days later, then 80, 70, 60 etc. Don't know where the fish start at, but when they get horny, they speed into the nearshore waters quickly... as in overnight... sometimes. Might be a few one day, many more the next, but it's not just something gradual. Low 70s isn't terrible (low 60s would be better). I've caught fall kings in 82 degree water in the past.
