Ed: I'm impressed. And I'm not easily impressed. On the other hand, I'm always thinking a miracle is about to happen. So now I'm confused. Was your terrific catch impressive or a miracle?

Either way,.....AWESOME

Super catch Ed, no way is your medical issues going to keep you down. BN had it wrong, its both impressive and miraculous that you could get out that quick and kick some walleye tail. A tall 10 point is next I hope for you.

Thanks fellas,
Don you have no idea how bad I am hurting right now. The legs are like wet noodles. :pinch: ( the muzzle loader is ready for that big 10)
So now that I had a little fun with you all, I'll tell the truth.
Donna and I headed out to Lake Erie. We fished out of Huron. The fish were caught west of Huron by Cedar Point. I tried every damn thing I had as far as tackle and couldn't get them to go. Then I found one last box with reef runners # 800's,
30 back then 2 oz. wieght and 45 ft back to the board. That is what they wanted. Speed-1.5 was to slow, and 1.9 was to fast.
Now for those of you that have been there, the night bite is suppose to be twice as good. You wouldn't believe how many locals and charters are night fishing out there. Safe to say more locals are fishing at night then people who fish during the day.
The perch were on fire also. If you went east from huron and fished 28 to 30ft. you were in perch, and alot of them.
So with the wind and temps the way they were we took the day and headed out to give it a try. Fried walleye for supper last night, can't get much better than that. :P

Okay you got me! I was beginning to believe there is a walleye fishery in Lake Michigan! So anyway, even for Lake Erie, the catch is IMPRESSIVE and you haven't wasted a miracle. Save the miracle to make the 10-pointer to walk by!

The boat ramps and parking facilities in Huron are fantastic. They have it laid out really nice. No weekend warrior stuff, by time you get close to the ramps, they have a special parking area for all the loading of your boat, equipment, drinks, etc. The local CO parks there to make his checks before you go out. During the regular season, cost at the ramp was $6.00. This time of year the ramps are free. Cranberry creek was just a few miles to the east.
Safe deep entrance to the lake and distance from the ramps to the lake are about 2/3 of going from portage marina to the lake.
There is also a marina there to take care of around 1/2 of what the poratge marina handles. This is considered the off season out there so home rentals were cheaper and plenty to look at. We were kinda looking for a spot like this that we could fish part of the central basin , but still not to far from the west basin. Would be nice to spend a week or more out there and get to know the spots better. I am ready to go out again before freeze up, sure would like to try that night bite.
The locals told us that this time of year the walleye will be in 12-18ft. of water all night long.

Nice looking fish there Ed! The only thing I can say about fishing on on a big body of water at night is it can very disorienting especially if a heavy fog moves in. Just remember to mark the ramp before ya head out. Everything changes once the dark settles in. I never fished Erie but plan on doing so this winter. At first when I seen your photos I thought you sneaking out in the cover of darkness outta Portage without me ...LMAO!
