We checked out Michigan City today. Harbor still iced over solid, but saw a good opening in the ice about at the start of the pier. Also had open water by the casino boat, and we fished some shrimp on the bottom for awhile but no takers. Couple other guys doing the same but no action. Was nice to get out in the sunshine for some fresh air and nice temps. Will be happening soon enough.

Sheet ice in the Michigan City harbor is going fast. Probably will be able to get a boat from Trail Creek Marina out to the lighthouse by the end of the week. Although floating pack ice could always move in.

Gave the pier a go yesterday morning. Saw a couple small browns caught, but no coho. Amazing how low the water is compared to those record or near record high levels just a few years ago.
Found a couple players in the creeks, water was up nicely with a slight stain, perfect conditions.

The recent warm up had our mouths watering.

Now this cold snap and snow really kicked us in the teeth.

Never been so ready for spring and get back out there.

We got some new stuff for our boat and itching to put it to use.

Michigan City has yo-yoing ice conditions. Free over the weekend, packed full of ice Monday, mostly clear yesterday, now ice again.

Lots of diving ducks feeding along the walls, must be getting something.

Looking at the 10-day forecast, I'm guessing we're a week away from having consistently fishable conditions
