The OR19 is a heavy tension pinch pad release. What we do is twist the line and put it in about the middle of the release. Then the line to the bait in the OR16 release that has the pin. We do this the same way weather we are running mono boards for coho or 300 copper offshore in the summer with flashers and flies/meatrigs. Once the board releases it goes to the middle of the boat and you fight the fish like normal.

Gotcha. So basically the same concept we are doing with the Sams Pro Releases. I was cheap and didn't want to buy new boards so I rigged the church boards that way.

Not trying to start a pizzing contest but it always interests me when guys with in-line planers try to invent ways to use them that makes using them more sporting and more fun. The answer is, as long as you have an in-line planer board on your line, it isn't going to be any fun reeling in the fish.
Let's put it this way. I know many people who switched from in-lines to big boards who say it's the best move they ever made. I've never heard anyone say I tried the big boards and decided it was more fun to catch fish on in-lines.
The one exception that proves the rule is I know of a former big board user who got his captain's license and switched to using in-lines. His theory was it was easier for him. "What about the fun for your customers?" I asked.
"Most aren't experienced enough to know any difference," said the captain.
I just shook my head in disbelief....

I think for me the only reason not to do it thus far is the space issue. I am low on storage. Im thinking about the mast and how I would deal with it - probably design an extendable mast so its easily stored. For now I look forward to trying the new inline setup this year with a board that releases. Since I have only fought the board in the past, I cant say how much fun a released board is or isnt. Really good interesting discussion......makes ya think.

BNature how do you put a 50 copper back out over a 100, 200, and 300 coppers with out pulling that side of the spread with big boards and a mast? Just curious.

If you run in line boards and want a good fight with little board resistance is to use lighter boards set to release. I never used boards that i pulled copper or lead on there weigh as much as the fish this time of year. Go with yellow birds or big jons which i run myself. There very light and don't feel them till fish is near net. Mike

My boards and releases arrived today. When I ordered the releases from Anglers Avenue I asked them to throw in a couple of split rings so I could attach them to the offshores. I didnt actually expect to receive the split rings - but they sent them! How about that - props to them for being good guys.

No idea - they were shipped loose. Plus I am not sure how rings are sized tbh. Seems to be the same size of the ones in the video.

Approx 3/4" diameter.
