How does everyone fillet their catch before the cleaning stations are open?

The significant other is not to fond of blood, guts and slime all over the counters. My other option is heading to my parents house, my mom is accustomed to these types of things happening in her kitchen.

I'm wondering what everyone else does.

I filet all my fish in the garage at the edge of driveway on a filet table from cabelas. Double bagged hefty for the remains, hose to shoot blood and lil bits onto the driveway and into the yards (happy birds!).

We have a garden in the back yard. So we built a nice cleaning table with a drain line that points into the garden area. The blood gets washed in and the rest in buried in. We usually have a nice garden and used to tease fellas at work. They would say" Wow what nice tomatoes" And my reply was always, "yea but they taste like salmon"

We used to carry a 5 gallon bucket with us, and get water at the ramp and clean them on the tailgate of the truck on a piece of plywood. Carry garbage bags with us, it actually worked pretty well.

Tailgate, Workbench, Portable table, 2x8 across saw horses, Kitchen table, Utility sink in laundry room, I have used them all and a few other areas over my hunting and fishing adventures. Best thing about my situation is my wife cleans fish too so I dont have the issue of where as long as it is cleaned up after we are done. I know how lucky I am with a wife that is happy to hunt and fish with me plus help with all the processing. My advise is get her involved and keep the mess cleaned up, thats the only time i get any flack, like when duck and goose feathers are floating everywhere.

Before I sent all the fish home with customers, i cleaned them at home. Just kept them on ice for the ride and then cut them up. The remains would go into the freezer until garbage day - especially in the summer where one day in the can was too long. Spring, it's usually cold enough flies and maggots weren't an issue.

Fish cleaning table - think ironing board! Most are metal with holes in the top to easily drain. Easy clean-up, long enough for two people and they fold up for storage.

I've now made a fish cleaning table that fits in my boat. It folds and stores in a forward compartment. Top is made from a large-sized cutting board I bought at a kitchen ware place. legs are bent, 1/2" electrical conduit. I clean the fish on the boat, put the heads and skeletons in a 5G bucket and dispose of on land. I do have raw water washdown on my boat so I can hose down the deck and get rid of the blood.

In the summer, my fish cooler sits on the engine box and is the proper height for fish cleaning. I still use a cutting board so I don't cut up the cooler lid.

Ed: You are supposed to be looking at the placement of the cooler. Don't know why the dang photo is rotated. Perhaps one could get a better view of the cooler if the photo was oriented properly.

It's like trying to look at a whitetail's body and all you can see is a "poke-n-run" rack!
