What is a good way or place to list your fishing boat for sale? I have decided to try to get a longer boat. Some of the dealers I spoke to say sell it before trying to trade. I have found it difficult to find out even what to ask for price wise. I found one similar boat to mine on Walleye Central but there was a big difference in the engines. So I don't think that would be a fair comparison to my boat. Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to sell my smaller boat pretty quickly by posting the sale and details on a bunch of different sites just like this one. Some to name are chitown angler, great lake angler forum, this site obviously. This is the link most people use to value their boats.

Try an Google the same boat and motor, you might get some idea. You can try and sell it here on this site. Let me know what you are looking for.

I typed in some info on the NADA website and got some low and high range numbers. There wasn't any place to add on the value of rod holders and track systems though. I think I have a place to start anyway. Thanks for the replies, any others will be likewise be welcomed.

I took the first step and posted it on the Craigslist up in the northwest Indiana listings. Hopefully I'll get some bites on it. If I do I'll try putting it on other sites like this one. Got my fingers crossed!!!

My boat has been up for sale for a while now. There has not been any real interest. However there has been people or some type of robot/scammer trying to get info on bank account numbers and paypal accounts. All of those contacts have been made by text messaging. Sad thing when a person can't do something like this without someone else trying to steal something from you. A person needs to be careful .

yep - unfortunately the world is full of these people no matter where you look.

I just bought a 175 Competitor end of last year (new) and ended up selling mine to someone just from word of mouth but my old one was old and not asked a lot. Your's looks pretty new so may be a bit harder to sell since it will be in a higher market. Like others said post it on the various forums. I would have thought that it would have decent trade in value if your buying new from a dealer but I guess not. Good luck - I love my Alumacraft so far. What size motor you running on yours?

It is a Mercury 150 Fourstroke, a 2013 model. Trade in value is good but taking it to dealer for trade in is just awful. Cabelas, where I bought the boat, uses the NADA book to assess values. They will give you 80% of the lowest rated value as a trade in. Mine valued between 28,500 and 22,000 dollars depending on condition. I was offered 19,500$ for the boat from them in northern Indiana's market. They can make a bunch of bucks by buying and selling a used boat plus the profit margin from selling you a new one. Selling outright is the way to go if it will happen.
