I didn’t take anything during the general gun season this year but I had  a little luck 4th week of October. A big bodied 8 pt came sneaking by me in the very early light. Made a good shot and the buck ran off only covering about 40yds. Bled very badly and crashed into and over a small thin tree before coming to a stop. Long body and covered up with pre-rut fat he dressed 186 pounds. Here’s a few pics.

very nice Don,,, good job. By the hit you made I'd say he was DOA before he hit the ground. Congrats!!!!!!! that's a dandy for your area.

We all went buckless this gun season. I never took a shot at one, did take a couple of does. My son missed a big drop tine, and our other hunter also missed on a very big buck. Hopefully with smoke pole (muzzleloader)season coming we still might get lucky.

I am missing the first part of muzz as I write I am sitting in the DFW airport waiting to catch a plane to Killeen to visit my twins and my new grandson to have an early Christmas. When I get back I will take a few trips to take one more deer if I can. A lot of good bucks where taken by the friends of mine this season, however the numbers of deer seen and killed were down. Does were hard to kill seemed like.

Well muzzle loader closed and It was a good close to the season. All our hunters went buck less this season. We saw plenty of deer so no objections.

I saw a buck I passed on closing weekend just not the shooter I was hoping for. I'll be looking for him next season. All took does so plenty of venison to go around. Made some pretty good sausage..

Well Ed Does are better then nothing. I didn't get a buck either. My son got a nice 1 but the grandson & I were not so lucky. I did take a shot at a real nice Buck with my crossbow but my shot was a bit high & didn't do it's job. So I to will be looking for him next season.
