Well maybe I'll start in 80 and see what happens. I won't be targeting Lake Trout at least for the first hour or two. I have no problem with Trout saving the day when the silver bite is slow.

I'd take a look in 55'-65' on your way out to see if any are there before moving out and setting up.
Good luck!

It is unfortunate that the call for 6 footers scared a few newer guys who were planning to fish the tournament away. We all expected a challenging bite.

The point of the tournaments is kind of like a guys get together with a touch of competition. We had a great time, Ed cooked some excellent food, got to share stories and learn from each other on a tough day and some folks got to experience for the first time, the US Fish & Wildlife Service doing what they do with Salmon

We all knew the bite was going to be tough. It was tough for me on friday and I wasn't shy on telling people that. So you were right on with that.

What really got me was your prediction of 6 foot waves and nasty out there. That scares new guys away from a fun event, while us guys who have spent some time out there and know how to analyze the weather a little knew it wasn't going to be that bad. Almost seemed intensional was my issue with that forcast, not the tough fishing that was spot on.

Okay! 'nuff said on yesterday.

Tomorrow, I'll predict safe conditions for fishing nearshore, a lumpy offshore, especially mid-morning on.

I also predict there will be some salmon to be caught in the nearshore areas. Those horny suckers will start trickling back in range of the nearshore fleet.

Hopefully because this am it was rough out deep and no significant fish presence near shore. The wife wouldn't have fishing in the 2-4' chop out deep and all we did was wash lures nearshore.
