You crack me up Don.......... I wonder why they venture out there? I have heard they are drowning ticks. Also heard the coyotes drive them to the lake front, so their only way to escape is the water. First time for me to see one, with alot of time on the water.
Back in the late 70's I was working as a 1st mate on the Jo- Jac out of Michigan city. It was the last cruise of the season and the owner, his wife, and another couple, found one close to state line. And,,,,,, there was a deer out there swimming but was not doing well. The deer did not put up much fight as they threw a rope over it and pulled it up on to the swim platform. They drove to the state park area and backed into the shallows close to the beach and dropped him off. The deer dragged itself up onto the shore and thats were it laid for some time. Finally on wobbling legs moved back into the wooded area. Makes me wonder how many have lost their life out there.
