Anyone go out and see if the coho are in yet? I'm going to try and make some time this weekend to launch out of EC.

Hope the water cooperates with me!

Drove to Portage today to take a look. It was open from the Portage ramp out past the mouth of the ditch. Should stay open unless a north wind comes a long. Rudey

Check with EC before you go at this time of year. The management there has strange rules which change almost daily about whether they allow launching or not. If someone tells you it's okay, politely ask their name. Then if you get nixed at the gate, you have a name to drop or at least can call back on Monday and you know who to complain to.

That's a good pointer. I have never had a issue launching at EC all through winter. Do a lot of diver duck hunting out there. Hammond, on the other hand, likes to deny people the ability to launch at the drop of a hat.

Portage was wide open save for the occasional chunk of rotten shelf ice blowing around. There was one boat trolling while I was out. Fish were going pretty steady on spawn fishined on the bottom. I caught 6 or 7 and kept 4 that were hooked deep. Couple other guys that were dialed in were doing about the same. If you give them what they want, they’re there and plenty of them. I never noticed a fish caught by the guys trolling or casting or bottom fishing with the wrong stuff.
