I can easily say the best trip I have ever had on my boat was this trip. Kings, a bunch of coho some of which were massive, and a couple of medium sized steelies were taken in a day and half of fishing north east of the 'DONUT". Water conditions were perfect and the weather was spot on. We were catching fish on the setup. We ran an 8 rod spread that included 2 riggers, 2 dipsies, 2 150 coppers, a 5 color, and a 100 copper. The coppers and lead core were on fire that morning. Standard size spoons in uv colors Warrior mixed vegetables and a chrome uv Warrior with a "Charlie Brown" green stripe on it were the big producers. The second day super slim sized spoons in NBK patterns were hot. It was weird that on day one the board rods were the hot rods and the dipsies were a waste of time except for the biggest king hooked on the trip on a j plug Bob was running. It was like Jaws was hooked up. And of course it got away on a botched net job by me but the the stinger hook also played a roll in its escape. It hung on the net and the king twisted it self loose. We lost 3 other giants another one at the net also. Day 2 had the strong coho bite and only 2 king bites. Day 2 the boards went silent and the riggers and dipsies caught fire. It is amazing how things change on the lake.
As some of you know I travel along way to fish the lake. I have to stay at places around the lake. Ocasionally I comment on those places. One of the places I used was the Springhouse Inn in Porter. It was a decent place to stay at one time but the past owners let the inn run down so bad I quit using it. I took a chance to try it again when I seen there was construction going on there on my way to Wagners Steak House. The place changed hands and the new owners are vowing to turn the place around. They have done a good job so far. I can recommend the place now to other travelers like me. The place is quiet and secluded and I would call it safe.
Here is a few pics of the trip.

Nice job. That’s an insane amount of bait marked on the sonar.

If you get to go good luck. I wonder if they will stick around though with the water temps on the rise and the coming bad weather.

I'm telling myself that the north blow is going to bring the cooler surface water down from the main body of the lake and keep the fish in close with the bait.

I'll keep telling myself.
