Spent the past weekend a stone throw from St. Louis watching my oldest grandson in his allstar game. 3rd generation all star. And as you can see who is gramppys little lover. Sunday it was 91 degrees when we left and the 72 degree weather sure felt good as we traveled north and back home. It was a great visit, and am finally starting to get the use of my legs back which is a real blessing. Funny how standing for the National Anthem, with hat over heart, allows you to think of what is really important in life.

These are memories that will never be forgotten Ed. I can remember my grandfather coming to watch my ball games they are very special memories for me. I truly believe all little girls are grandpa's girls. Watching my little girls which appear to be the same age as your granddaughter climb all over and love my Dad can make a man melt. Glad to hear you are starting to feel better too.

Looks like those kids love their grand father. Very cute little girl also Ed. Won't be long and my grand daughter will be here. Your pictures make me look forward to it. The trip looks like the medicine you needed to get better.

They lost the game but it was a really good game for awhile Steve, then like the cubbies it fell apart. 12-5. Was nice to see those young guys with there different talents out there doing their best. I forgot to mention that they played in a semi pro field. Don't remember the name, but it was what all young fellas dream to play on. They really went out for these kids. Pro mound was taken up and a little league mound brought in. Fences were brought in, and bases were realigned for little league length. Probably 60% of the families were military families. So, really good to see those kids and families together for the games.

Don you might be right, it was a good break away for me. Helped realign my G. Brought back some fighting spirit and got my mind off things. Like I mentioned earlier, when your standing there looking at the flag, standing for the National Anthem, looking at those young fellas and knowing that many of the dads are home from the military for awhile, it got to me. Call me silly or sentimental, but seeing all of that, the faces all smiles, the families cheering, it all took me to a better place. Baseball is Americas sport and my second love next to fishing. Both of my sons went on scholarships to college and pitched. I coached when they were younger and coached a very good allstar team from Chesterton. Yes, it was I needed for sure. This picture is one of my favorites. My sons and Anthony my oldest grandson, it was a great trip. The young man does well for himself.
