License and Permit Fee ChangesPersonal license fees have remained the same since 2006, and some commercial license and permit fees have not increased since the 1980s. The costs to maintain healthy habitats, provide public access, and educate the next generation of hunters and anglers continue to increase. To address this shortfall, the Indiana Natural Resources Commission approved fee increases to some licenses and permits to ensure we can continue to protect Indiana’s fish and wildlife resources for this and future generations. These increases will allow the Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) and the Division of Law Enforcement (DLE) to:
  • Conduct fish and wildlife research.
  • Restore habitats.
  • Maintain Fish & Wildlife areas and public access sites.
  • Provide technical assistance to private landowners.
  • Educate new hunters and anglers.
  • Protect and serve the public.
How are the Division of Fish & Wildlife and Division of Law Enforcement funded?DFW and DLE rely on the sale of hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses and permits. Funds from license sales are split between DFW and DLE to manage fish and wildlife resources and the enforcement of fish and wildlife laws.  Learn more about how DFW is funded .What fees were changed and when will they go into effect?Commercial license and permit fee changes will go into effect for licenses/permits issued for 2022. Those sales started in October 2021.Hunting, fishing, and trapping license and stamp fees will increase starting with the 2022 licenses that go on sale in January 2022.You can view all the fees that were changed in the tables below.

So resident goes up $6 and non resident goes up $25. That seems lopsided. Dailys up $6 too, for someone to takes a lot of people out on dailys that is rough. Big picture how much I spend $25 extra is small but with how we only have half yr of good silver fishing where is the extra going? To improve the fall fishery somehow? Prob not. Maybe back to Illinois for me in the future.

Wonder why the big increase in deer license? More than 50%? Might help increase the deer population by hunters shooting less doe's do to the extra cost. Wish I could of got a lifetime license. Mike

Timmy - time to move to IN so you can save that $25 haha.  But in all seriousness, most states are lopsided.

Nothing is getting cheaper and yes an out of state MI license is like $78.  They don’t have a great year round fishery either especially the northern ports.  Heck we are 2 mos into the coho and some
kings before they put their boats in.  Actually if you really look at Indiana Lake Michigan fishing in its totality its pretty dam epic!  That does include fishing MI water just 2 miles N of MC.

I hate to see the price of anything go up, but I know it's necessary. Think of what you were paying for dang near anything in 06.  The biggest deal is no increase in salmon stamp. What?
That's what funds hatcheries and other Lake Michigan programs.  I guess we'll still (or increasingly) rely on Michigan to fill the lake with salmon.
