All entry fees have been waived for the June 10-11 Hoosier Coho Club Derby.
Normally, entry into the derby-style event is $50 per boat plus $20 for a big fish side pot, but thanks to donations from Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas, and the unfortunate cancellation of the HCC Classic, there will be $1,200 in gift cards up for grabs.
First place will pay $500, second $300, third $200 and big fish $200.
Derby format is simple;
* Contest hours run 12:01 a.m., June 10 through 3 p.m., June 11.
* Winners determined by total weight of five salmon or trout (only three of which may be lake trout).
* Teams may fish out of Portage, Michigan City or New Buffalo.
* Captain of a boat must be a Hoosier Coho Club member (annual dues are $20).
* Weigh in will be at the Washington Park Marina fish cleaning station with the scales open from 3 p.m to 4 p.m. on June 10 and at 3 p.m. on June 11.
* All eligible fish must be in line at the scales by 3 p.m. on June 11.
