The public input survey is in the process of being distributed. A lot of this is covered in the survey invite and the survey itself, but I want to mention a few important points.First, thank you to all who attended the meetings. After the meetings, DNR decided to add a 4th option that was suggested at the East Chicago meeting: maintain 75,000 chinooks at East Chicago and split the announced increase between Trail Creek and Little Calumet. That would be 75K at East Chicago, 100K in Little Cal, and 100K in Trail Creek. I think it’s a really good option and it probably should have been included from the start.Second, DNR is extremely interested in this input, and it will help shape our management decision, in addition to our data and factors we covered at the meetings. We are looking to consider ALL answers to survey questions, including what factors anglers consider important when deciding where to fish, how acceptable each potential management option is, and which is the most-preferred option. It is not going to simply be a tally of “votes” for a given option as some have felt or expressed. All of the responses to the survey questions will shape and inform what management action the DNR chooses to implement.Third, details of how to take the survey. If you have a valid email in the online license system, you should automatically receive the survey. Check your inbox and your spam folder. If you DON'T have a valid email, or don't get an invite in the next couple days, the generic link for people that did NOT buy a license online and/or receive an email invitation is here
