Just a little follow up on the new pup. She weighs 25 pounds now and is capable of running a marathon dragging a car tire. She has been finally house broken and is gotten the basic commands down. Roxie is retrieving to hand using thrown dummies and whole frozen quail. She is not gun shy thank goodness and is going for some field training in two weeks. Very playful and energetic we are working on the "whoa" command now. She is getting it seems like. I am trying a different method using a choke rope instead of a board or a barrel. Hopefully January we will be chasing preserve birds.

Roxie is really turning into a looker Don. Pretty dog. Sounds if some of the hurdles are getting knocked down. Soon she will be everything you had hoped for.

Roxie is 10 days or so into her 30 days of training and the breeder/trainer has told me that she is doing very well and is a bird finding machine. She is taking the lessons very quickly. I do believe that it pays off to let a professional have the dog for a short time for field training as opposed to me taking forever and possibly messing some aspects up. I am going up to visit in a week or so and do some training and shooting over her. The Dunnicks sent some pics of a session a couple of days ago on some quail on the farm near Shelbyville.

Thanks Bob, at 5 months she shows some good potential to be a real nice hunting dog. I think I made another lucky pick of the litter. The breeder was saying so far all the pups in that litter were good dogs and were showing real promise.
