Hi everyone. Just joined the forum today looking for some assistance. I grew up in Wyoming and currently live in Nebraska. I have a work trip to Michigan City on September 14th. I am travelling with one co-worker who is also an avid fisherman. We will be done working by early afternoon and really want to fish. We have never caught a salmon or steelhead and really want to give it a shot. If anyone is willing to help in any way I would be glad to reciprocate with help in Nebraska or Wyoming. I have guided elk, deer, antelope, upland game, waterfowl, and fishing most of my life through the rocky mountain states and Nebraska. Anyone willing to trade info/trips or whatever would be greatly appreciated. I do have all my own gear that should work for these fish.

Added a few pics from some of the recent hunts...

Welcome aboard. I am guessing someone around here would want to trade some fishing for hunting!

Hilltop,

Lake Oahe has a stocked population of Chinook Salmon if you happen to come down with the case of Salmonitis like all of us here. lol

Those fish do not grow to the size of the great lake kings, but still a blast I bet.

Lake Oahe isn't too far of a drive- I may check that one out. Thank you! I try to fish or hunt on any work trip that will allow it. I fished in the gulf by Galveston 3 weeks ago- had a blast. Caught several sharks, redfish, specs and a giant ray- at least giant to me. Guys on the boat estimated at 150 pounds. We released everything but the specs.

Just booked a room at the Blue Chip right on Trail Creek... I understand if guys aren't willing to offer much help to an outsider but would anyone be willing to point me to a decent bait shop in the area? Found Chief's web page- they the best in the area? I typically fly fish or spin cast artificial lures but I'm willing to do whatever to fight one of these fish. If it matters- I do plan to release anything I catch. I love to eat fish but travelling for the week with fillets in a cooler isn't in my plan.
