Hi every one my name is Dan I'm new to the group. I hope to meet new people to fish with and to learn a few things from this group. This will be my second season fishing from a boat and my twentieth season on the lake lol. Next to the kayaks I'm probably the smallest boat in this groop. My boat is a 1975 16' Lowe "super deep" 25 hp tiller handle named happy place . You probably laughed at me once or twice at the ramp. I primarily fish for salmon/trout ,catfish and panfish bass not so much. My mission for this year is to make new friends and catch fish. I know in the vastness of lake Michigan there are monster catfish somewhere. Me and my friends plan to track them down.
that pretty much sums it up thanks for letting me join the group hope to see you all out on the water.

Nice to meet you Dan - great to have you here.

While I dont know much about catfishing, I have caught 10lb + cats on 3 occasions.

1) While bass fishing in the ditch (spinnerbait of all things)
2) At night just off the port wall in 40' water - just messing around on a nice night.
3) While perch fishing off the dunes pavillion area in july in 25' of water or so.

They are definitely there, and I am sure some monsters can be found.

I know there are some big ones. 8 years ago my grandfather pulled a 18 lb channel out of the BP discharge. I won't start to fish for them till after the coho have moved out of my safe fishing distance. I finally broke the East chicago curse last weekend. (Every time I went there last season something broke and we didn't catch anything) we went 5/9 in 4 hours.

Great to have you aboard! I used to fish from a smaller boat also before I upgraded to a big boat. There are some major advantages to a smaller boat and I'm looking forward to your reports! Good luck this season and be safe out there. Gotta pick your days with a boat that size but its do able for sure.
