Hi Everyone;
My name is Lou Beisel (Luigi to my fishing friends) and known as ReelTales on the water. Home base is Mishawaka, IN. Been checking out this site for almost two years and finally decided to come in from the weather due to all the great fishing posts. This is one great website and well managed by the moderators - kudos!! I have been fishing Lake MI now for almost 15 years for those big silvers as well as the smaller version called coho. Love chasing those yellow bandits called perch. I fish the waters between MI City and St. Joe. New Buffalo is my "Home Port". l came up thru the ranks (local clubs) learning to fish with the old timers, one in particular who has been fishing for salmon for over 40 years. Learned everything I know from the "Professor". Bought my first big water boat in '05, a 22' Trophy (see pics). Six years later I decided to part with her because I could only live with her for six months at a time and the rest she was in storage ( I was completely hear-broken!!). I am retired and that was just not enough fishing time. So, I spent a lot of time looking the field over and finally found my 2nd love - Reel-Tales II - an 18' Starcraft that I can take anywhere, anytime, and fish alone if needed. I re-powered this year with a 90 HP Suzuki 4S. No crew needed to launch and load. Now I can fish right to ice-up. Currently active in the Michiana Walleye Assoc., out of Mishawaka, IN and have been converted to walleye fishing. ( I still like salmon and coho fishing ). I find walleye fishing challenging on the St. Joe River, but really love the "big water" - Erie. I fish the Western basin in the Spring out of Monroe, MI (Sterling St. Park) and then the grand finale in November is Huron, OH for those huge ones coming back from the eastern waters. My biggest (this year) was a 32" / 12.5 # eye. CPR - catch, photo, release. We boated 40 eyes and kept 33 in 2-1/2days (2 men). As soon as we can get out of Portage in the Spring we head for Gary light for coho. We then follow them up the lake out of City and then New Buffalo. The main areas we fish for Kings is between New Buffalo and the Cook Nuclear area. Daybreak in that area is absolutely amazing! Occasionally I team up with another member here - Pikesmith, for Kings. He is a really great fisherman and we always bring something home. Give me a shout if you are out on 68. Early Spring is the only time I am on the south end (50+ mi to Portage - 30 mi to New Buffalo). If anyone is interested will gladly post walleye trips and pics. Thanks to everyone. You are a great bunch of guys!!!!!

Welcome aboard reeltales. Great post and would love to see pics of your trips this new year. If its fishing we would love to hear about it. Jeff (Dirty) has done a great job of putting this site together and he has as you probably have seen, put spots for the salmon post and another for post on lakes like lake Erie. There is a good number of us that are fishing both spots also, so your among friends either way you go. I see you have good company fishing with Pikesmith. Keep in touch as it would be nice to get a group to travel out to Erie for a few days of walleye fishing. One item on the bucket list for me is to get out there this fall when the perch bite gets going. I haven't fished the west basin in a number of years so I will be asking questions. In the fall we hit Huron and have a house that we rent out right on the shore line just east of Cranberry maybe less then a 10 minute drive. Its a 2 story house and we only rent out the bottom half but that only means there is alot of room for others. :)

Hope to bump into you this spring chasing the coho, we all usually monitor channel 68. ;)

There is also a personal message section. Good way to keep up with others and what is going on.

Thanks Ed. In the Fall Huron trip we always rent at Plantation Motel (cheap rooms and a fish cleaning station) which is about 2-3 mi west of Cranberry Creek. Our hot-spot this year was 8mi straight north of Cranberry, then moved over to the north of the dumping grounds. Enough guys from the club go over to probably fill the house!! Already got the coho-itch with this 50* weather.
