Two friends and I fished for 5 1/2 hours yesterday (7/7) with only 7 perch to show for our time. We tried east to Long Beach and west to Black Ditch area. The deepest we tried was 35 FOW at that point. It was after noon by then so we were about to give it up and head for the dock but decided to try one more place. We motored over in front of Washington park beach to 41 FOW and while I deployed the trolling motor one of my friends hooked a large perch. I put the motor on spot lock and we sat on that spot and finished our three man limit in a little more than an hour. Was it location or time of day? We were over fish at other times in the morning but couldn't get them to bite. I tried using shrimp as bait on one hook with a shiner minnow on the second hook and found they preferred the shiners. Several of our catch were true jumbos the rest were good size. We probably threw back 6 to 10 small ones.
