It is sometime very hard to navigate the Port wall around the R4 for inexperienced boaters, heck experienced boaters with all the light clutter if you are not paying attention. The boat in EC I heard happened around 4am on Saturday morning, looked like a off shore race style boat. checked the updated story and was a 42ft fountain. At least one of the guys had a lot of boating experience including being one of the first Lake County Marine Unit members. Mentioned a wall near EC and ArcelorMittal so I wonder if they hit The Wall and not the breakwall at the marina. Had to have been going pretty fast for the damage in the picture.

Anyone know the story with that boat that hit the breakwall in EC? From the pictures I saw the bottom was chewed but appeared the bow was ok? Seemed odd. Unfortunately a few people passed from that accident :(

From what I was told the cigarette boat hit the breakwall at Buffington Harbor by the light house.

Dirty,

We fished Portage as well yesterday very near the pavilion as well and ended up with 21 keepers in the morning. It started off real good but then slowed as soon as the sun came up of course. Granted, we did a lot of sorting, but our best area was fishing in the troughs then later in around 18-20ft. I was shocked there wasn't many boats out? Not sure if the storms overnight had some sleeping in but only a few folks out trying. Lots of guys trolling around the #4 so there must be some secrets being stored somewhere because there hasn't been much said about that bite currently going on??

I had a wifey day else I would have been out there at it again. glad you did decent.

There have been quite a number of reports for fishing around the #4 lately. When the action is close though, you will not see a ton of reports because it can get crazy out there and people generally dont enjoy fishing in chaos lol.

When you are my age you'll think back to the day when you were dumb enough to brave the storm because the fish were biting. Glad you survived. Next time, call me and I'll front you the money to buy a fish dinner at Culvers.

I was young, dumb and lucky once. Now I'm older, wiser, still not that smart, but still ticking.
