Ok guys what do you look for on your sonar when trying to locate perch? I've always been told they will look like a weed bed on bottom and you will rarely mark individual fish. Sometimes this seems to work sometimes not so much! Any help would be great!

I run down scan split screen with regular sonar. The down scan has better individual target separation in my opinion.

Exactly. When I find perch on down imaging, I know without a shadow of a doubt its perch. With regular sonar it could be gobies, rough bottom etc etc.

I found this image on the web that illustrates what it looks like when they are hugging tight to the bottom. Boosting the color line on your sonar helps to distinguish bottom from fish on the bottom. I circled the area of fish holding tight.

Not having your sonar unit set up and adjusted properly will let you keep on driving past fish like this.
