Looking to go perch fishing with my dad and brother-in-law tomorrow morning.

Any suggestions for the big lake? Any help would be appreciated.

Depends were you want to launch out of. Hole-in-the wall(east side of Mital East) is good in the fall, also the shipping lane south of 95th. street break wall(the old US Steel Slip also) in Cal Park should start attracting some perch. Try drifting south of the pier in the 30' depth and look for marks on the bottom. North of US Steel Gary works can be good also if the winds stay out of the south for awhile. If launching out of Portage try by Baily's or outside the Ditch. Gary isn't to bad of run either. When I used to hit the water hot and heavy I never waited for a reports. If the conditions were good go out and try it. In the early 90's we would catch perch every year I believe right around October 12 or 20th.(kept a log every year) right up tight against Government Pier. There would not be another boat around other than a couple of my friends. Remember one time the water was muddy as heck and still caught them. Back then people read the fishing reports from the news paper or got imfo. from the bait shops in the area. Wind direction and speed play a big part also were you might want to fish. Just my 3 cents.... KJK
