Well it was good to get out fishing in the middle of Decembert the perch fishing was not what it was a couple of weeks ago. I took a couple of buddy's out and we managed to keep 16 fish that were 9 to 11 inches. We went through over a gross of fathead minnows , we did have a great time and caught well over 250 fish the big boys where hard to come by though .There was only about 12 boats out yesterday and there was no fish at the mouth of the river all the fish were caught in the river down by Crowleys Marina.

Thanks for the report Kurt. We went out today I will put up a report here in a little while, but it’s not much different from yours.

Bill did you try out by the gap in the wall or by any of the channel makers by any chance

First thing this morning I went to the Gary flats and searched for about 90 min but found no perch. We then went to calpark we set down half way between the gap and the river. I zig zagged all the way to the river I marked no perch. There was another guy searching the same area in front of the river and said that the north slip was dead. So I continued into the river 89th st slip was too full to try and fish. We ended up fishing a few different spots in the river and found a good pod with some bigger fish near the steel wall near Crowley’s. We kept 27 fish 15 of them were 10s-12s the rest were 8 1/2 and 9s. It was a fun day on the water we caught a ton of dinks.

No I did not

Back in the day(1990's) we used to drift in the shipping channel were it drops off to 30'. Depending on wind direction of course. Last couple days with no wind has been idle boating conditions. No internet back then. We just went when conditions were good. Some days better than others. Old Lund in storage; 18' 1985 Lund Tyee Great Lakes Model bought in I believe Four Seasons marina in South Haven, Michigan. Enjoy reading your guy's post. KJK Valpo

Perch dinners all winter!

I went to Gary light this morning and searched for about 45 mins and didn’t mark anything. Tried the shipping channel and did not mark anything there either. Didn’t see another boat at either spot.
