If the weather ever turns I would like to head out in front of Gary Light for the pre-spawn perch bite. Too late now? Anyone been out there ??

I dont fish out there as much as everyone else but the few times I have been over by Gary I have not seen anyone in the general area I usually see the perch fishers. Not much help but just my observation.

Definitely not too late. This spring has been cold. I am going to guess the perch bite will be on for the next few weeks at least. Perch just come in and out, so you have to search a bit sometimes, and sometimes they are just not there at all.

I've only marked one or two perch humps in the past outings this year. But the coho bite has been so hot I'm lucky if I have enough time to mark way-points let alone stare at the sonar.

If you don't mark them near the 50 foot area, head out deeper

Springtime perch have gotten deeper and deeper over the last decade. It can be harder to find them out there, but they are there
