Before I got in to salmon and trout fishing, I was and still am a perch fanatic. Love catching them. I usually fish them, summer, fall, and winter. From Cal Harbor to MC. Not looking for any secret intel or anything but anyone think that late April if weather conditions allow, checking the Gary flats might still be worth it? I got into the game later than some due to my age, but I have a buddy that caught some out there this winter the same time the river was hot. Still going to be going for coho and browns, hopefully a king or two, but always looking for the perch when I can. Thinking of checking the 50-60 ft area off Gary Light in the next couple weeks. Hope everyone is doing well!

I was always told when the emerald shinners come in to spawn the perch follows .

I believe they spawn sometime in July not sure . Might be a old wives tale

Winds don’t look good for the near future, a few were being caught from the Portage and MC areas several days ago. Going to give it a bit and they should be showing up in more numbers soon. As always watch the winds/waves and be safe above all else.
